Right about now, the 25 businesses participating in Pies on Parade are becoming a little pie-eyed. Pie is on every participant’s mind right now for the 11th Annual Pies on Parade Tour. And, this year, the Silent Auction and Pie Party that precedes the Pie Tour will be bigger and better, creating even more ways to donate to the Area Interfaith Outreach (AIO) Food Pantry, the recipient of 100% of the funds raised from the Pie Weekend. The Silent Auction and Pre-Pie Party will be held at Trackside Station on Union Street in Rockland, January 24th from 5:00 – 7:00pm, with the auction ending at 6:30pm.
Here are just some of the highlights in store for the Live Auction and Pie Party:
- Trackside Station will have a complete menu of pie themed cocktails on the menu, including such favorites as Mint Chocolate Cream Pie, Coconut Cream Pie and Good ol Apple Pie, each including a delicious concoction of spirits and juices. Trackside Station will donate 50-percent of the proceeds from the sale of these drinks to the AIO Food Pantry.
- A number of unique and useful items will be on the auction table including this hand-written letter from Don McLean proclaiming his wife, Patrisha as Mrs. American Pie for her fabulous Lemon Meringue Pie, the never-before-published recipe for that pie, some of Patrisha’s best pie-making devices, including one that is little known but revolutionizes pie-making attempts, and a signed CD from Don McLean.
- Prizes include restaurant gift certificates from Café Miranda, Terra Optima, Blackboard Deli, Archers on the Pier, McLoons Lobster, the Chowder House, Hannaford plus more. Spas, including Rheal Day Spa, Skin Klinic and Synnergy have donated treatment gift certificates too. There are boat rides from Captain Jack’s Lobster Adventures, a signed cookbook and jams from the J&E Riggins, coffee from Rock City Roasters and so much more.
- Rockland’s own Miller Clan will be on hand to provide live music throughout the night.
One hundred percent of proceeds from both the Silent Auction and ticket sales for the 11th Annual Pies on Parade Tour will benefit the AIO Food Pantry, serving 17 communities throughout Midcoast Maine. Additionally, funds are being collected via special oil collection cans at the Silent Auction and throughout the Pie Tour, for the AIO Fuel Assistance Program. Maritime Energy has agreed to match up to $2000 of the funds raised for the Fuel Assistance Fund too.
